One Story Classroom is a flagship program by Shoshama Institute for Collective Wellbeing that seeks to transform K-12 education for the next generation of global citizens, using our unique story-based, structured pedagogy approach.
Structured pedagogy is an evidence-based, learner-centred approach that has been proven to help students build foundational literacy and numeracy skills, traditionally consisting of a range of key elements working together to support quality teaching, such as: teaching and learning materials, teacher training and coaching, formative assessment, caregiver engagement and a management and accountability system.
On the world stage, UNICEF has a proposed an evidence-based framework for structured pedagogy as a way to tackle the global learning poverty crisis affecting "learning-poor" low- and middle-income countries, and communities around the world.
The One Story Classroom program began in 2014, with the goal of creating transformative learning experiences that would inspire curiosity and a love for learning for students from all over the world and all walks of life.
We have implemented pilot programs in communities around the world, testing our approach to the use or learning and teaching materials, teacher and facilitator training, community partnerships and parent/community engagement.
Through this work, we have developed a holistic suite of programs and resources, using a unique and innovative storytelling methodology designed to deeply engage learners and foster a deep conceptual understanding.
All our educational programs are developed based on the Return to Genius Framework, a model that transforms anxious and disengaged students into confident and capable leaders.
